Sometimes, the client will help decide what needs to be completed by the original due date and what can slide. Contractors, too. This is a team sport. We are not on different teams. We’re on the same team, just playing different positions.

Project Manager tip of the day: Tell your client as soon as you realize you are going to miss a deadline. The pain will be much less if you tell them now. It will hurt a lot more if they discover it on their own, plus you lose their trust.

The best way to move up the ranks and make more mon? Eliminate stressors from your supervisor’s daily life. Assume responsibility for something your supervisor finds stressful or annoying. Boom, you just became valuable to that person by freeing her up to do other things.

The next stage of AI image gen is going to be all about control. Human creativity is a beautiful thing, and the images we all have in our heads is much better expressed through motion, brush-strokes, song, tone of voice than through a simple text prompt. I worked with a guy who used to say, “they’ll figure it out in shop drawings.” He was right, they will figure it out in shop drawings, but it won’t be the detail you want and it will cost more to get the detail you want. Don’t be lazy. Draw the detail you want to begin with.
