OPINION: Do you think people should be able to sell courses when they haven't been in that industry long/had much experience? 💬⬇️
@anniemaisocial Yes. It’s up to people to make the choice who they buy from.
@anniemaisocial They can do what they want. The real question is; "Will anyone buy a course from someone who hasn't been in that industry long/had much experience?"
@anniemaisocial I think so. Everyone has to start somewhere and everyone knows more than someone, so the audience would be newbies maybe and then as they learn the audience would grow with them? I guess if someone knows something no matter how small they could teach it.
This is grinding my gears right now too. The 'faceless digital marketing' accounts feel a bit black hat to me. Not all - I'm sure there are legitimate ones with experience and credibility to back it up - but the ones touting that they've "found a way to make 5-10k months passively through digital marketing" who have never actually been in a marketing role are giving the industry a bad name.
Sometimes the beginner’s mind is what is helpful to people and it can enable people to see a subject from a unique perspective. Depending on the context, it could also be a situation where the buyer is going on a journey with the teacher. So, the context matters. But I don’t see why someone can’t sell a course at an early stage.

@anniemaisocial People should be able to do whatever they would like. However, it's our job as consumers to determine what's actually valuable and what's not.
