It took 8 or so books for me to realize it’s easier for me to write each chapter in its own doc as opposed to writing the whole book in one doc. All this to say, writers, you never stop learning.
@angiecthomas it took me five to realise I could split my word doc into chapter headings so I could zoom around the file simply by clicking the chapter I wanted at the side. We need a word doc manual for writers!
@angiecthomas Wow I might try that. Do you ever lose track of the plot or does it help with pacing?
@angiecthomas Whoo!! That would drive me CrAzY. I'm team chapter headings. I recently changed a BERRY reference (long story) from strawberry to blackberry. I'd have had to do a find/replace in (Lord!) 7(?) different documents to make the change. AND I'm time-travelin'. Mercy. Ever-learning!
@angiecthomas Oooh, if I have every chapter open in a separate tab it would be easier to search for small details & phrases to check for accuracy while still being able to keep typing in the current chapter. Or have the chapter I'm writing in one doc & everything else in another....
@angiecthomas This is what I do, as well. I’m actually currently doing it now. Obviously, I just combine them in the end.
@angiecthomas i’ve been doing this a LOT with my last two books — especially when it’s a chapter i’m intimidated by!
@angiecthomas Scrivener changed my life for this reason.
