I wonder if it would not be more practicable to do away with all the A.M.s and P.M.s and M.s by simply introducing the system of twenty-four hours domination, for instance: Our office opens at 9 and closes at 17:30. No doubt many institutions would welcome such a change.
Do you know that every time you pick up a telephone receiver in a public booth in New York City and press your lips against the transmitter you are flirting with a cot in the fever ward of Bellevue?
The home is no place for a theatre, just as it is no place for a church…the sense of human communion established depends on the actual physical presence of one's fellow-men. This is the stone wall against which television's promoters have unwittingly been battering themselves.
If the elevator is crowded, it seems silly for men to let every woman in the car walk out first. This archaic custom blocks the exit and slows up egress considerably, besides which it makes things awkward in general.
It would seem in order to state a proper reason why gentlemen should not feel constrained to remove their hats when in an elevator shared with women. How many colds have been needlessly contracted in just such a way in elevators, that of necessity create a draught!

Patent: A "handcuff" fire alarm box, designed to stop false alarms. When this alarm is set off it automatically snaps a handcuff around the person sending in the alarm. To get the handcuff off he must report to a fireman or to the fire station. Thus he would "give himself away."
