#Ethiopian shipping company struggles with disrupted cargo shipments amid #Red_Sea security crisis Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise disclosed on Wednesday the impediments it faces in its cargo operations due to the ongoing security crisis in the Red Sea, significantly impacting the country's import and export activities. In an official statement, the state-owned enterprise highlighted that "major shipping companies have curtailed their visits to the region, with some ceasing operations altogether" due to the precarious conditions prevailing in the Red Sea. This development has resulted in logistical challenges concerning both the time and expenses involved in shipments to and from Ethiopia. The company elaborated that numerous cargo vessels, previously integral to its operations through collaborative arrangements, have refrained from docking at the #Djibouti port owing to the heightened risks in the Red Sea vicinity. Consequently, the shipping company has escalated the utilization of its own fleet to transport goods from the ports of origin for inbound shipments, ensuring the continuity of the import supply chain. Acknowledging the hurdles in exporting Ethiopian products, notably coffee, to global markets amidst the avoidance of the area by major shipping lines, the company unveiled its initiative to provide competitive freight services from its vessels to ports in #China, #India, and the United Arab Emirates (#UAE), aiming to facilitate exports effectively.
This again is another huge fake news! Ethiopia isn't using any port on the Red Sea, and cargo it receives come through Djibouti ports, which are not directly affected! This is an extension of propaganda aimed at giving evidence to the wrong and meaningless claim of Ethiopia (to disguise the Oromuma agenda in the same way the TPLF used Ethiopia to advance its own Greater Tigray agenda) for control of a port on the Red Sea. This misinformation is no different than the other false claims about aborted mid-air collusion of @flyethiopian & @emirates over the Somali skies! We are yet to understand what use such misinformation campaign is going to do for Ethiopia other than cyclical crises. @EIshmael_ @0to1infinity @FarahMaalimM @Amanbiede
@addisstandard This security risk in the Red Sea, if it lasts longer, will have a devastating consequence on the already hard pressed #Ethiopia|n economy, causing inflation to skyrocket.
@addisstandard Stop the excuses ethiopia only imports used clothes whodead
@addisstandard Churning same fake news lately Like that near mid air collision reported yesterday of Emirates and Ethiopian earline Don't rely on secessionists for your stories
@addisstandard Why don't they use Mogadishu Port and pay taxes?
@addisstandard As long as Ethiopia isn't on board on the Red Sea naval security team and that its navy shields its commercial vessels, Ethiopia will remain vulnerable.
@addisstandard They want free services or illegal occupation Our water is not for sale and we are ready to pay our blood
