A few reasons why I’ve been late to see patients: A child’s cancer relapsed, family devastated An adolescent expressed suicidal intent A child with life threatening anaphylaxis Things that have never been the reason I was late: Eating bon bons Not valuing patients time
@acweyand I've never heard anyone say doctor's are just sitting in the back chilling, but what my complaint is is that they often overbook &think they can do a drive by visit while their nursing staff does the rest. More bodies in, more $ in, but when a patient requires more time...
@acweyand Did anyone else notice the post says appt at 9:20 and it was posted at 9:07am? Did they wait 24hrs? Because that would be bad.
@acweyand I think a staff member explaining and asking if folks wanted to wait or reschedule would go a long way. It shows a level of respect to the patient that the Doctors office staff also expect.
@acweyand My hematologist was consistently 1.5-2 hours late for my appointments. With no communication from office staff (when in waiting room) or nurses (when in the exam room). I totally understand emergencies, but this was every time. And then I got 7 minutes of her time. If that.
@acweyand Not sure if I misunderstood their tweet, but was their appt meant to be at 09:20 and it was only 09:07 when they tweeted?
