A complaint has been filed against Notre Dame with the National Labor Relations Board. Same "unfair labor practice" charge as several other existing NLRB cases: that Notre Dame has illegally classified athletes as "student-athletes," rather than employees.
The complaint was filed by former Minnesota regent @mdhhsu, who has filed several other complaints with the NLRB attempting to get college athletes to be classified as employees. (Notably one against Northwestern, and another against the entire Ivy League.)
@achristovichh Wow. Do you know if it was a team or athlete from a specific sport? Thx.
@achristovichh @EricPrisbell That’s 80k per year in published cost to attend. Add the extra benefits of an athlete, probably gets to 100k. Taxes on 100k income are roughly a $27k tax bill. And they get no cash. Good plan kids. Well thought out.
