The year is 2017, you just paid $9.99 for a month of unlimited movies. You watch the LEGO Batman Movie 3 days in a row. You have no idea how any of this is sustainable, but you don’t question it. Life is good.
I also recommend checking out @_subtxt_ video on where he believes the Remake Trilogy will go (keep in mind this was before Rebirth's release) and I think it's an interesting perspective on the series and lore as a whole x.com/_subtxt_/statu…
One of my favorite parts of this Rebirth discussion was the discussion about the Part 3 Lifestream Sequence. For a while, I was bothered that CCR “spoiled” the reveal for new players. But as I talked about during my recent OG replay, maybe there are bigger things to explore:
I personally believe that this sequence will be THE defining moment of the Remake Saga, more so than Aerith's death. So it'll be important to get this right and if done so it will literally be one of the most emotionally impactful scenes in the Final Fantasy franchise #FF7R
the game has been heavily referencing that sequence and that it'll be more than just simply Cloud finding his true self. It'll literally be a moment to safe his soul. And Tifa is definitely going to be the heart of that sequence. Chapter 9 (best damn chapter in the game) pretty
original name in Japanese was "Ribāsu Sefirosu," or "Rebirth Sephiroth" during his @KupoConEN series. Lo and behold who's the boss fight at the end of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth? Yuuuup. The other reference is the "rebirth of multiple worlds" through the Lifestream #FF7R
another world or acting as some sort of defense mechanism for Cloud's sanity. Personally, I think Aerith Prime (Remake's Aerith) is 100% dead however she is "reborn" as a Traveler of the Lifestream similar to Sephy, hence the title of the game #FF7R
With all that said, it's abundantly clear that all that noise in Rebirth's ending is to distract us from what Square is trying to do and what they are trying to do is amplify Cloud's role as the unreliable narrator of Final Fantasy 7 #FF7R
While different and it doesn't hit all the right emotional beats, the ending was "fine." It wasn't as offensive as I feared it was. That's what I think. Now this is how I feel: I feel the ending is also representation of what FF7 Rebirth's biggest problem and that it can get
and what it was basically was a bizarre ass friends vacation, going on crazy adventures while learning about themselves and the world around them, developing bonds that bring them closer as friends and enjoying each other's company while saving the world #FF7
Personally, I think the ending is not that big of a deal. I heard rumblings of controversy in regards to Aerith's "death" and how it's handled but to me this was a nothing burger in the grand scheme of the story. Ultimately Rebirth was always about the journey not the destination
So, I finally finished FF7 Rebirth yesterday evening and I wanted to give myself time to gather thoughts on the ending, what it means for the series and where it's likely heading for its final conclusion. I'll first say what I think and later how I feel about it #FF7
too excessive for its own good. Yes, the "rule of cool" was awesome and the marathon of Sephiroth/Jenova bosses definitely made me howl I excitement BUT I also felt that the quieter, somber moments were missing throughout Rebirth and ironically the times we DID get the quiet
