there's nothing really random about random variables. they're deterministic functions that operate over stochastic outputs
"random variables" looks like naming things isn't just hard in software, it's also hard in math.
functional programming is actually a great starting point to learning math on a deeper level. I feel like a surprisingly general starting point is just: you have some objects, some operations you can perform on them, and laws those operations have to satisfy. monoids, groups, rings, fields, etc. a lot of math starts to feel much less arbitrary once you see it as structure.

@AgenticallyME coding won't go away, just like math didn't go away when calculators were invented. kids certainly use calculators over manually computing by hand, but that never stopped them from learning about mathematics.
yes, you should still learn how to code, because learning how to code, is really just learning how to think, and learning how to think is more important than ever
being able to recognize uncomfortable truths about yourself is a truly underrated quality
