1 hour. That's how long a CTA employee sat in the driver seat of their bus before being found unconscious. They later died. I looked into what happened that night and how a stalled bus, that missed over 50 scheduled stops, never raised any red flags. blockclubchicago.org/2024/04/17/dea…
Thanks to @BauerJournalism for the fantastic interactive map. And thanks to @colinbphoto and Ben Hendren for the wonderful photos.
@_ManuelRamos_ Great reporting, Manny! This is such a heartbreaking story. I've heard some horror stories about working at CTA 😢
@_ManuelRamos_ solid reporting Manny. I too have had my frustrations with city agencies and FOIA requests. It's a pattern in Chicago
@_ManuelRamos_ Omg this is just not acceptable on so many levels. Prayers for her family. Shame on the CTA
@_ManuelRamos_ @BlockClubCHI Truly toxic culture. I depend on the agency but have zero respect for it. We need a transit coup.
@_ManuelRamos_ @ballesteros_312 Thank you for the thorough reporting! What a tragedy.
@_ManuelRamos_ What exactly does the CTA control center do if a bus misses this many stops and is idle for nearly an hour but no one notices?
