of course people are arguing about the bridge. So absurd. It was a massive container ship. There likely isn't a bridge in the world that could sustain an impact with that much mass, even at very low velocity
if anything, this is an indictment of shipping laws and safety, not infrastructure (which needs to be built better for completely other reasons). I used to watch apprehensively when these behemoth ships passed under the Golden Gate, large enough to make it look smaller

@_Anunnery the ship failed inspections, I think the brazilian inspectors warned the US, but they chose to ignore the warnings. and with basic inertia and engine failures nature just took its course. just a tragedy that could have been prevented
