Like every domestic animals, horses are of different breeds. There are chickens worth ₦4M per one. Viatina-19, a cow, is worth more than ₦1 billion. It's like talking about cars. There are cars for ₦4M and there are cars for ₦400 million. Coming back to horses, only someone who is looking to own exotic breeds will import. People have been breeding horses in the northern part of the country for more than 100 years. In fact, there's a breed known as Arewa horse. We also have Bornu and Sulebawa. These breeds cost between ₦900k to ₦5M for juveniles. As for the management, it depends on the owner. If you have a large expanse of land and you plant what they eat, you can spend as little as 50k per horse, in Nigeria.

Horses are expensive. My friend bought his own for N30m - he bought 2 for 15m each. It costs him about N500k monthly to maintain each. This is excluding cost of medical. Sudanese horses are like N15m to N20m. Argentine horses are very expensive, ranging from about $45k to $100k.
