We measured DA release in NAc & gene transcription in the VTA & found disrupted DA release + increased KOR sensitivity & signaling after protracted alcohol withdrawal. There were minimal transcriptional changes, but dynamic changes in function-transcription relationship. (2/3)
@ZFarahbakhsh Very interesting paper (lots of work. Congrats!). Any thoughts on why, in the alcohol exposed monkeys, high NAc DA release is associated with high k-opioid receptor and high D2 terminal region autoreceptor gene expression?
