Somaliland Y-PEER has a close and ongoing collaboration with the Somaliland Deaf Organization, particularly in promoting the inclusion, participation, and rights of people with disabilities and other vulnerable and underserved groups. The event provided an important opportunity to strengthen partnership, raise awareness about the challenges faced by Deaf people, and reaffirm the importance of ensuring equal access to information, services, education, employment, and community participation. Somaliland Y-PEER, with support from the International Solidarity Foundation (ISF), successfully completed a two-day training in Burao on VAWG, Women and Girls’ Rights, and Prevention Messages Based on Religious and Community Values. The training brought together 20 religious leaders from the project’s target communities, strengthening their knowledge and engagement in preventing violence against women and girls (VAWG) and promoting the rights and well-being of women and girls. Religious leaders play an important role in shaping community attitudes and challenging harmful practices.
