Acapulco, Mexico might have just become the first city of over a million inhabitants in the world to experience the eyewall of a Category 5 storm. Otis made history on so many levels. A storm we won't forget anytime soon.
@WxNB_ I might be wrong but i read somewhere here on x that it is the first time Acapulco is hit by a hurricane and a cat. 5 right on the first time.. crazy.. also the insanely fast buildup, this is really scary. i wonder how long till Brazil starts to get hit by hurricanes.
@WxNB_ I know I’m so proud of my storm!!! I told this world to prepare for more!! God and I were done!! I named it after Otis in the Andy Griffith show!! I was watching it the other day and thought it was the perfect name for it!! Told this world to stop pissing me off!! I’m exhausted!!
@WxNB_ Global Warming Highlight : Mexico’s President AMLO has a high compromise with fossil fuels, he spent all resources to build a refinery and a Diesel Train.
@WxNB_ @Cmiranda_247 Hope everyone is ok, but not sure you’ve heard of Hurricane Andrew?
@WxNB_ This is so heartbreaking to see. I spent a couple of months in Acapulco a few years ago. The people there have endured so much loss, violence, and hardship over the past several years. This is a devastating blow. I'm praying for everyone impacted. 💔
Hurricane Otis, a Catastrophic storm, Wreaks havoc in Mexico. The influence of climate change on individual hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones is challenging to assess due to their localised and short-lived nature. Warmer ocean waters give storms more energy, resulting in higher wind speeds. A warmer atmosphere holds more moisture, leading to more intense rainfall during storms. Rising sea levels exacerbate storm surges, worsening coastal flooding. It is unclear if the number of hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones globally will increase, but they are very likely to have increased rainfall rates and reach greater wind speeds as the world warms. Higher global temperatures will lead to an elevated proportion of hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones reaching the most intense categories (four and five).
@WxNB_ I pray the people are okay. Buildings can be replaced. People can't.
