Sports Illustrated also reports that CM Punk was not dismissed solely because of his backstage altercation with Jack Perry last week in London at AEW All In, though that did not help his cause. His firing came after Tony Khan felt physically threatened by Punk at All In during his attempt to get Punk refocused on the match. Unlike prior occasions, Khan was not able to effectively communicate or reason with Punk and eyewitness accounts supporting Khan’s claim further ended any chance that Punk would return to AEW.
@WrestleOps Obviously, Khan didn't watch Punk in MMA because nobody would feel threatened by him after watching that
@WrestleOps I didn't watch and have only seen bits here and there, but am I right in saying this altercation happened BEFORE CM Punks match? If so, surely he'd have a case for unfair dismissal? If he was that dangerous and they were that scared, he shouldn't have been allowed to compete.
@WrestleOps I wonder how many of these incidents Vince had to personally endure throughout his life?
@WrestleOps Tony Khan fumbled his biggest draw ever. AEW is going to fall off now and CM PUNK IS COMING HOME BABY
@WrestleOps CM Punk is the biggest mistake any wrestling organization makes when hiring him
@WrestleOps One day maybe that footage will leak. 😭 Punk must've tried to grab or throw a punch at Tony or something like that...
@WrestleOps I don’t know
@WrestleOps Sports Illustrated reported this 😆 damn they fell off
@WrestleOps Punk buried his own hole here. Khan was nothing but gracious to him. But Punk walked in like he owned the place and wanted everything to be done his way. I hate to see it come to this but Punk was at fault ultimately.
@WrestleOps I feel this is the tip of the so called Iceberg, more to come out.
