This may be a strange thing for a bookseller to say, but you don't need to buy a book to fit around a supermarket World Book Day costume. It's about celebrating books and literacy. Choose a book you love to celebrate! And don't forget, many characters wear everyday clothing.
@Wonder_Bookshop It really bugs me that WBD seems to have become more about dressing up than reading a book or better still sharing the book you love.
@Wonder_Bookshop Just had this same conversation on fb. Someone asking for easy ideas ... I listed lots, for them then to ask if anyone had a specific character costume for sale... 😩 Mind you, my youngest is going dressed as a banana ... 🤪

@Wonder_Bookshop I’ve had some children and parents ask me what certain characters wear as they aren’t as well known or illustrated but I’ve told them that it’s down to interpretation then and to not worry. You’re right it’s about celebrating!
@Wonder_Bookshop Young book fan is going as a character that wears normal clothes so that he can wear his normal clothes and he’s gonna take the book along to show to anyone that asks
