Soviet Union collapsed because no one was prepared to challenge the establishment from the inside and everyone inside had to keep cheerleading that the Soviet Union was powerful and successful. Anyone on the outside could see it was collapsing very rapidly. The US is doing precisely what that Soviet Union did. Those inside the system will not challenge the establishment either becasue they are thoroughly brainwashed or out of fear of being cancelled and thrown to the wolves. Everyone inside the establishment continues to cheerlead the notion that the US empire is here to stay, exceptionalism reigns supreme, the dollar can't be challenged, we are the greatest military and economic / financial power in the world. Anyone looking in from the outside knows this is utter nonsense. Rather like even the day before the Soviet Union collapsed the delusional cheerleading continued, the same will also happen in the US. In both cases they didn't and won't see the writing on the wall, 24 hours before it is officially over.
