First Minister Vaughan Gething says he won't step in to save Wales' national museum in Cardiff walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-new…
So Wales's 'National Museum' is under threat. No surpise really. Its very much 'British' orientated curators have for decades stubbornly refused to 'tell the story of a people', of a 'nation', prefering rather to showcase aspects of 'life in Wales' at various times over the centuries - in other words nothing more really than a provincial UK institution. I once asked at the reception desk 'Have you got anything about our Princes?' and was told 'I think we've got a few things up stairs'. I also remember the British Museum hosting a magnificent exhibition in London titled 'The Celts: Art and Identity'. The exhibition later toured in Edinburgh but never arrived in Cardiff. What sort of lost opportunity and cultural philistinism was that eh? As for Labour's uber British nationalist new First Minister Vaughan Gething's refusal to help out? Well, again, no surpise at all is there.
@WalesOnline The closure of the National Museum of Wales in its historic building in the centre of Cardiff would be a national humiliation.
@WalesOnline Could ask his criminal backer to sponsor the museum….
@WalesOnline More important to spend money on 50% more Senedd members and on changing speed limit signs.
@WalesOnline What a shame we used to spend many happy hours in there, especially the bees.
@WalesOnline Great start Born Guessing 🤡
@WalesOnline Well there's a surprise he couldn't sort out the useless NHS in Wales out so not surprising
@WalesOnline Welsh Labour support £500 million a year in fees for students studying outside Wales - essentially financing unis outside Wales, whilst unis in Wales and their local economies suffer but won't invest in what is uniquely Welsh and supports Wales cultural economy.
@WalesOnline He's a unionist grifter. He's more interested in Westminster.
