BREAKING: The union representing nurses @ROCRegional says its members have voted to authorize a strike.
The union statement says the decision comes 'amidst growing concern for patient safety', citing concerns over staffing levels.
The union, Rochester Union of Nurses and Allied Professionals was formed a year ago. Recently, the hospital system said that it saw progress at the bargaining table and believe a fair contract can be reached.
To clarify here, the union is talking about authorizing a two-day strike, which would happen on August 3rd and 4th.
Rochester General Hospital released a statement this week saying that the strike threat is 'disappointing' despite progress being made at the bargaining table, and said they are committed to reaching a fair contract.
