Nevertheless, 3 of the 4 QB’s in conference championship games were 1st round picks. 2 were top 10 picks. 6 of the 8 QB’s in the divisional round were 1st round picks. 9 of the 14 QB’s that made the playoffs were 1st rounders. 7 were picked in the top 10. 3 1st overall.

@VinnyBonsignore But remember, also, that the bust rate following a trade up into the top 5 for a QB (or up within the top 5) is much higher than the bust rate for first round QBs, per se. And there's a logical reason for that.
@VinnyBonsignore Not surprising either way. The more QBs you pick in the first, the more likely you’ll find hits and misses.
@VinnyBonsignore how many top 10 qb picks have won SB in the last 10 years????
@VinnyBonsignore None of QB’s in the last 2 SBs have been top 9 picks. There hasn’t been a qb drafted in the top 5 to win Super Bowl since the 2009 draft of Matthew Stafford. Since 2010 only 2 QBs drafted in the top 5 and only 3 in the top 9 have even led their team to the Super Bowl.
@VinnyBonsignore It might be noted that there hasn’t been a QB drafted in the top to lead the team that drafted him to a Super Bowl since Peyton Manning and Manning was drafted in 1998. Since 2005 27 QBs have been drafted in the top 5. Only Stafford won a Super Bowl. Only 3 even appeared in a SB
@VinnyBonsignore If you wanna go back to 1998 of the 40 QBs drafted in the top 5 3 won Super bowls and 5 others lost in the Super Bowl. 26 were never in the pro bowl and 28 had losing records. 36 ended up with at least 2 teams. @VinnyBonsignore
@VinnyBonsignore And, that's how you break it down ladies and gentlemen!
@VinnyBonsignore you can use numbers any way you want to paint your argument, doesnt make it correct. most teams that mortgaged the future trading up with multiple first rounders have lost on the deal.
@VinnyBonsignore Now do what the teams had to give up, if anything, to move up and draft those QB’s. Bet it wasn’t three 1st’s, couple of 2nd’s and 3rd’s…
@VinnyBonsignore Over the last 20 years, what is the average draft position for SB winning QBs? 🤔 Stats don't tell the entire story or can paint a different story, right?
