Aaron Pierre reveals that he discovered his passion for acting at just 14 or 15 years old during a high school play. He said his school didn’t offer drama as a subject, so they would only put on one play every three years. He got the opportunity to perform in Moby-Dick, where he also served as the narrator. Aaron said he only had three or four lines in the play, but while backstage after delivering his lines, he was overwhelmed by the experience and realized that acting was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He explained that everyone in the audience was grown, had busy lives, and didn’t necessarily have to be there, but they chose to give him their time and energy. “All of the people in the audience, they are grown folks, they have busy lives and none of them actually needed to be here, but they chose to gift me their time and energy, and I wanted to honor that for the rest of my life.”
