Proud moment, as Greece 🇬🇷 raises its flag at the #UN Security Council during today’s Flag Installation Ceremony Together with Denmark 🇩🇰 , Pakistan 🇵🇰 , Panama 🇵🇦 and Somalia 🇸🇴, Greece 🇬🇷 will serve as an elected UNSC member for the next two years. The #UNGA Plenary Resolution on the “Return or Restitution of cultural property to the countries of origin”, presented by 🇬🇷 was adopted with the highest number of 146 cosponsorships. The Resolution highlights our common efforts to: ☑️protect cultural property against illicit trafficking in times of peace and war ☑️return or restitute stolen or illegally possessed cultural property to its historic environment ☑️respect cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible We are thankful to the considerable group of all the 🇺🇳 member states which cosponsored this important Resolution!

At the #UNGA Plenary meeting following the recent veto casted on a #UNSC draft Resolution aimed at improving the protection of civilians #PoC in Sudan, @evasekeris expressed regret for the motion and argued that an adoption would have served as a catalyst, creating positive momentum in addressing the escalating crisis in Sudan as well as other ongoing armed conflicts across the globe. 🇬🇷🇺🇳
