Western leaders don't hide their contempt for their own people's ability to understand who actually has been destabilizing the Middle East. For example by carrying out genocide in defiance of the majority of the world, expanding illegal colonies, annexing land, carrying out pogroms across the West Bank, and bombing a foreign embassy. By "destabilizing" they mean of course destabilizing the status quo that has seen (1) the consolidation of Israeli colonialism at the expense of the Palestinians for decades (2) the consolidation of antidemocratic Arab despotisms tied to the U.S. and increasingly to Israel as well (3) the inevitable creation of a vacuum of legitimacy that has been filled by non-state organizations and by a non-Arab Iran which, of course, has its own geopolitical interests and goals even as it claims to champion the Palestinian cause. Either way, Iran would not have done what it did yesterday had Israel not bombed its embassy. That much is clear.

@UssamaMakdisi @TalulaSha Not do they appreciate the simple logic that if you condemn someone for 'overreacting' when they're so OBVIOUSLY being so moderate, it removes one incentive for them to be moderate in future.
@UssamaMakdisi That the G7 displays flagrant, obvious double-standards is about as surprising as the sun rising in the East.
