“Mitch (my husband) is a songwriter, and he plays guitar and drums in the studio, so when Harry records, Mitch plays drums on the records. So I’m mostly playing his parts when we are playing live, which is interesting. […] They definitely gave me room to interpret the drum parts. The band is always coming up with different intros and such. But my approach was this: I didn’t know much about One Direction, but I knew they were a pop band, and this is a pop band. I put myself in the shoes of the people in the audience that are listening to us. I know if I was them, and the band weren’t playing some of the main hooks in the instrumentation then it would frustrate me. So, I try to do those important bits note for note. I think that’s what people want to hear from his music.” -Sarah on how Mitch and Harry leave the drums in live performance up to her to interpret, and her thought process on how she approaches that, via Modern Drummer.
@UpdateHLD I feel like Harry is a very generous boss who doesn’t let his ego get in the way of allowing his band to thrive!
