I promoted a debate that Commissioner George Kruse said could be the most-watched in Manatee County history. The people wanted to see it — grassroots versus the establishment, head to head. Now the format is in question, and I’m being asked to take my post down. Let me be fair here. Xtavia Bailey has worked in good faith to put this together, and I’m grateful for that — she’s told me there will be rebuttals, which I appreciate. My concern is simply that the event is drifting toward something that feels less like a debate and more like a forum. And there’s a difference. A debate is head to head — candidates on the same stage, answering for themselves, in front of the people. That’s what voters deserve, and that’s what Sydney Gruters said she would do. On the record. Here’s what gives me pause. Just weeks ago, the Capital Tiger Bay Club in Tallahassee hosted a Republican primary debate for Congressional District 2 — with a separate Democratic debate to follow. That’s the standard. So why, in our district, is a primary debate suddenly in doubt? Maybe it’s process. But forgive me for noticing a pattern. A public meeting about Terra Nova went from open, to ID checks, to law enforcement, to cancelled — in a single afternoon. Our AI data center roundtable just lost its venue and had to be moved. The Manatee County Republican Party was shut down and replaced with hand-picked insiders. And every time voters get close to a real, unfiltered conversation, something gets in the way. I’m just asking the question out loud — because someone should. Sydney said she’d debate me. This isn’t it. She needs to stick to her word for the voters of FL-16. The establishment wins when the conversation never happens — so let’s have it. Crazy redistricting lines. In FL-16 which now "miraculously" includes @JoeGruters and his wife @SydneyGruters who are running against me. It also includes @gregsteube of FL-17 and @RepLuna of FL-13 from what I can tell. That leaves a lot to be settled. And based on the crony network of @anthonypedicini and @PeterSchorschFL (conspicuously missing @MaxJGoodman) gloating on-line over the bad position this puts me in, I wonder how much they knew before anybody else. People in FL-14 want me to stay in FL-14. People in FL-16 want me to stay in FL-16. I’ve spent three years building relationships with people in both districts, and that’s how grassroots candidates win — not with money and mailers, but with time and genuine connections. Redistricting has put me in a tough position. No matter which district I choose, I lose approximately half of my constituents. This is a challenge to be sure. Today, I called Representative Luna's office and heard from Nick Crosby that she intends to stay in FL-13. Yesterday I reached out to Congressman Greg Steube to understand his intentions— specifically whether he plans to stay in FL-17. I respect his position and look forward to hearing where he stands. Once I hear back from him, I’ll make my decision thoughtfully. I’ll share what comes next shortly after.

Pat Neal recently hosted a fundraiser for @ByronDonalds , @SydneyGruters , and Mike Rahn. Fundraisers and having a voice are fine. But when a major developer has corrupted county commissioners for years while we’re overdeveloped beyond our infrastructure capacity, there needs to be a change. Where do you think these candidates’ loyalties will reside? No wonder they kept this secret.

The best photo op just came together at Buffalo Creek Park. I was holding a baby while gathering petition signatures and someone was already there with the phone. Now, looking back at the video, I’m just so thankful for the entire process. What a rich American experience on a beautiful Florida night. Sometimes I gotta just take it all in and thank God.

I wonder if Trump knows. We were trying to get Steve Bannon to do a story on us and he threw it to someone else. Go to @UnderTheRedWave to see the interview. There was one interview only so we took to social media & Grace Chong, someone who works for Bannon, actually blocked me. A few people have talked to Bannon & he blamed us.

C3 is spot on — the RNC is drowning in incompetence, and Joe Gruters is a prime example. While his wife Sydney campaigns for Congress in FL-16, she doesn’t even live in the district. Same last name. @ScottPresler Kudos @ScottPresler. Beware their trix. E.g. In FL the RPOF removed the Manatee State Committeeman @wayminator after he got 60% votes on ballot. Also removed duly elected SCW. When I ran for Pinellas Chair, the REC had 100 more people vote than normal. It's rigged here many ways.
