@GrahamY The NT Government made significant financial contributions to the establishment of both offshore & onshore gas in the NT, even to the point of funding exploration, gifting multiple lots of commercial land to operators, building roads, not charging them for their water use.

@GrahamY "we need more development" 441 petajoules (PJ) annually goes through the Blaydin Point (Darwin) LNG processing facility The entire energy requirement per annum for the NT is only 139.4 PJ's. Retaining 15% (inline with what WA has done for DECADES) is not unreasonable.

@GrahamY Is WA "anti-export" because it has a domestic reserve policy? Clearly not... Decades of these dud-deals (i.e no domestic reserve) with foreign companies have risked our energy security and contributed to the deindustrialisation of Australia.

@GrahamY We need a domestic reserve policy, like WA. Vast majority of Territorians would agree. The NT is running like a generator whilst north Australian gas is powering Asia. Chinese "renewable" technology (i.e solar panels) is NOT energy security, despite what the left think.

@GrahamY Clearly you're not very familiar with this topic if you don't know that INPEX is on-selling 30% of their gas at exorbitant prices to other counties, including Taiwan, South Korea ect. It's part of this 30% that the NT Government was competing and paying commercial rates for.

@GrahamY It's an intermittent fuel source to bridge gaps in supply, that exist b/cos unlike WA we have no domestic reserve policy. A few million p/a in payroll tax and 300 onshore jobs is all the NT gets out of INPEX, as it exports $37billion in gas every 4 yrs x.com/Ulimaroa_/stat…

@GrahamY INPEX doesn't pay royalties either, b/cos their extractive activities occur in Commonwealth waters, not NT/WA waters. The Commonwealth has the ability to seek royalties, but they have NEVER done so. I'm pro-mining & pro-gas, I'm NOT pro dud-deal (i.e no domestic reserve).

@GrahamY Not sure what you're referring to... The shortfall is NT-wide. There is no domestic reserve policy for the upcoming Beetaloo Basin either, it's a nine year gas supply agreement.
