Conversations with in-game characters are getting more real! Presenting our research project, NEO NPCs, a new kind of NPC that uses generative AI to really talk to you! Discover how our team of writers and developers are coming together in this exciting experiment: ubi.li/PDyOG
@Ubisoft @inworld_ai @nvidia So your games will be even more soulless? I thought that's impossible
🫣 There hasn’t been this bad timing and tone deaf a move since Iosef Tarasov killed John Wick’s dog. It doesn’t matter how cool some middle manager thought this would be, to anyone informed or anyone affected this is a slap in the face. That’s a lot of your customer base. Maybe wait until AI regulation is there protecting people properly from those using AI. Because right now you’re asking John to like Iosef. AI threatens everyone’s job, future, opportunity, history, privacy, security and to be frank all digital content online. If you’re smart you’ll dissociate your brand from this right now, call it just a little tech demo for in house, and then perhaps once regulation is in place and a suitable amount of healing time has occurred, then think about bringing it back if it is feasible at that time.

I always thought it would be cool if writers would program NPCs with what they would know logically about the stories and happenings in the game at like each major event. That paired with generative AI would be really cool, but it still needs that human touch to keep them grounded
@Ubisoft @inworld_ai @nvidia They aren’t “really talking” to you. You are setting up your games to be completely devoid of characters with any type of personality.
@Ubisoft @inworld_ai @nvidia Lots of people in the comments pretending that there has been good dialogue in a single game in the past 4 years
@Ubisoft @inworld_ai @nvidia Same vibe.
@Ubisoft @inworld_ai @nvidia Nice to see so many "commenters" who haven't even read the article, but condemn it anyway. Bravo.
@Ubisoft @inworld_ai @nvidia People who want this vs the people who don't
