Scientists watch as hot, rapidly swirling air grabs & flings pieces of fresh lava during the first day of the eruption in Halemaʻumaʻu crater (#Kilauea). Wind vortexes form due to extreme heat. Eruption temps were ~1150°C (~2100°F). #HVO eruption updates: usgs.gov/volcanoes/kila…
@USGSVolcanoes @Kachelmann Windhose im Vulcan? Faszinierende Aufhamen!
@USGSVolcanoes Sorry, all, if it doesn’t touch the cloud base it is only a Lava Whirl, not a Lava Tornado.
@USGSVolcanoes Amazing to watch that upper right area and the Molten Rock just boiling away like soup in a pot. The power station just below the surface of the Earth is incredible. We need to tap it more. Brilliant Engineers could do it to run giant steam turbines using ocean water. Maybe.
@USGSVolcanoes @ReedTimmerAccu never stop chasing!
@USGSVolcanoes Wow! Mother nature putting on a show. 👏👏👏👏
