In recognition of Judge Parker’s exemplary and tireless service to the Nation and specifically to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico, the courtroom in which he presided for so many years has been renamed the James A. Parker Historical Courtroom.

Even as a Senior District Judge his energy, work ethic and ability to maintain a heavy caseload was legendary. Judge Parker will be remembered for his public service to the judiciary, on the bench handling complex cases, and by his serving on national and local committees.

Judge James A. Parker was nominated by President Ronald Reagan to the United States District Court on July 10, 1987 and received his commission on November 6, 1987. With 35 honorable years of service, he was one of the longest serving district judges for the District of NM.

Central Violations Bureau (CVB) hearings at the Pete V. Domenici U.S. Courthouse this week will have protocols in place to encourage social distancing. The Court continues efforts to resolve citations remotely to limit in-person appearances.
