@bradkelemen @OracleCloud It has 2 cores and 8GB memory, with a 100GB boot volume. From my understanding, this should be within the Ampere A1 Compute always free limits.

I have a feeling there was a bug in my code causing this. There's a very important line of code missing. I was opening UDP connections, but not closing them. This probably resulted in the server running out of UDP ports to receive the answer, and then dropping those.

I have a server on my home network that will randomly decide to stop accepting UDP DNS answers until I restart it. There are no firewall rules blocking DNS, and tshark shows the incoming requests. TCP DNS still works fine.

Everything went well, even on the cheapest server, until I discovered that Twitch detects if you're not using the website or app and stops the stream after a while. At least I now know how to set up a streaming and transcoding server, could be useful for future projects.

I realised that rendering an OS GUI was taking up a lot of the resources and that I could instead make a transcoding server. So that was my project for yesterday. I even made an auto install and setup script to help with server deployment.

I watch streams on Twitch often, but unfortunately my internet can only handle streams up to 360p (due to throttling, I find 160p to work better though). Tonight I had an idea. What if I could watch streams that don't have quality options using a VPS?
