Building on the #DIYmicrobitWeatherStation, I've created a DIY Anemometer! 🌬️📊 Using a micro:bit, we're capturing and graphing magnetic force data, designing a 3D prototype, and measuring wind speed in RPMs. Check out the progress! #Microbit #Tinkercad

Does this provide enough data for calculating wind speed? While effective for measuring bike wheel speed and distance, determining wind speed is more complex. Factors like friction and drag complicate direct RPM-to-speed calculations. #DIYmicrobitWeatherStation 🌬️🌀 #WindSpeed

On a side note, this project was a fun opportunity to involve my 82-year-old mother, who is a big quilter. She helped sew the sock part! Here are just a couple of her quilts. 💚🧵

While the micro:bit helps with direction, our #DIYmicrobitWeatherStation windsock is mainly visual. It also indicates wind strength by its angle. The striped pattern intrigues me; before researching, I'll try some critical thinking. Any ideas what purpose it could serve? 🤔

A great intro to cardinal directions 🧭 and angles, fundamental to geography 🌍. A small confession: I always thought the origin of the word "news" 📰 was the compass cardinal directions North, East, West, and South because that's where the information was coming from 🤓

Taking a small break from the #TM2MicrobitBridge to dive into a new addition for my #DIYmicrobitWeatherStation project. Inspired by a windsock at a nearby airfield during my bike ride. Starting off with a Tinkercad design!

This build is particularly interesting because the 'sock' part is made from fabric, typically nylon or polyester, which is difficult to capture in the 3D Tinkercad design. It also presents a new challenge when I move on to the physical build.

Here's a sneak peek at the example/test project I'm building for the new #TM2MicrobitBridge pose classifier, which will make use of a servo.
