Draft Grades
Arizona - B Had a bunch of needs going into the draft. Left with probably the best player and filled a lot of needs. Didn't get any amazing values however.
Atlanta - F Signed Cousins to win now but already planning for his retirement, when a 27 year old Penix takes over. Also bad reach in 2nd round. Added some defensive depth but didn't get better.
Baltimore - B+ Addressed needs and got solid value picks. Were able to wait til end of 2nd round to get a deal on Rosengarten. Wiggins/Tampa should improve defense.
Buffalo - C Addressed needs but didn't get any real great values, could get upside with 3 starters with Coleman/Bishop/Pran-Granger.
Carolina - C+ Addressed needs, Legette was fair value, maybe reach for Brooks who has injury concerned. Nice pick in 4th with Sanders who could've gone earlier.
Chicago - A Despite lack of picks ended with Williams, and was able to stay at 9 and get one of the top players in Rome. Nice value with Yale tackle in 2nd round.
Cincy - C+ Got solid value for most picks and addressed pressing needs at OT and TE. Nothing super exciting however.
Cleveland - C Didn't have a first round pick but drafted fair values.
Dallas - A- Were able to trade down and still get fill a need at tackle in the 1st round, good value on Kneeland and Beebe to address further needs.
Denver - D Took a 2nd round QB at 12 when could've traded down an probably still got him. Got good value on his teammate Frankin in 4th.
Detroit - A Got the co top rated corner at 24, then got a borderline 1st round guy at 2-29 in Rakestraw. Added some OL later on.
Green Bay - C+ Got fine value with Morgan at 25. Cooper/bullard/Lloyd decent upside in the 2-3rd.
Houston - C Somewhat incomplete grade given traded their 1st round pick in Diggs deal. Had a couple fine picks and couple reaches.
Indy - B Solid pick with Latu in the 1st, and good upside with Mitchell in 2nd. Failed to address corner need until 6th.
Jax - B- Was able to trade down and still get Thomas at 24, after that had some reaches to try and fill needs including CB.
Kansas City - B Were able to fill needs with Xavier at WR but trade up probably not needed, Kingsley in 2nd round good value.
LA Chargers - A- Got the tackle Harbaugh wanted in 1st round, solid value on Mcconkey and got steals in Colson/Rice.
LA Rams - C Addressed needs and got fair values on most of their picks. OL could continue to be a problem.
LV B+ Got great value with Bowers and Powers-Johnson, addressed DB needs later on. Reached on the much needed tackle in 3rd round.
Mia - C Got fair value with Chop and Paul while addressing needs. No real steals however.
Min - B Got their QB while only moving up one spot, perhaps got value on Turner but probably gave up too much capital.
Ne - C Made the right choice at #3 but not much else was exciting for them.
No - B+ Solid value and filled needs with Fuaga/Mckinstry in first two rounds, Rattler in the 5th is nice developmental pick
NYG - B Filled needs and didn't reach on a QB
NYJ - C- Went developmental tackle with first pick when in win now mode. Didn't get back 2nd round pick. Not bad later picks.
Philly - A First two picks alone worth an A got great value on both while filling biggest need. Rest of draft uneventful.
Pit - A Addressed Oline need with first two picks which were good value, Nice upside value picks with Wilson and Wilson.
Sea - C+ Solid pick with Murphy, but nothing exciting rest of draft
SF - D Probably reached with first two picks, nothing really exciting rest of way.
TB - C Mostly solid value at picks but nothing exciting either.
Ten - C- Went with the need pick of Latham, and took bad character in Sweat in 2nd round. No great value.
Was C- - Got their QB in Daniels, but failed to address offensive line or WR. Not great considering had 3 2nd rounders.
Likely final mock
1 - Chicago - Williams, QB
Case Closed.
2 - Washington - Daniels, QB
I have been favoring Daniels for Washington ever since Dan Quinn expressed interest in a QB who can throw deep and escape pressure. The concerns about Maye's accuracy and decision-making have come to light, giving Daniels the nod for me.
3 -New England - Maye, QB
Lots of smoke around this pick. Ultimately, most "insiders" and draftniks say they expect New England to stick and pick, and that Maye is likely the choice. In the pre-draft press conference, Eliot Wolf said they are open to trading any pick, but also happy to stay and select a QB.
4- Minnesota (from Arizona) - McCarthy, QB
A well-regarded Arizona beat writer has said they are interested in trading down to acquire more picks. This would be consistent with GM Ossenfort's dealings last year, and the Cardinals could definitely use as much talent and as many assets as possible.
5- Arizona (from LAC) - Nabers, WR
Everything the Chargers have said has been in regards to wanting offensive linemen and being willing to trade down. Harbaugh essentially said, "Come up and get the pick." If Ossenfort can leverage moving from #4 to #5 by picking up an extra first-round draft pick, he would do it. Cards beat writer said preference for Nabers.
6 - NY Giants - Harrison Jr, WR
Giants beat writers, who are usually quite reliable, have all been focused on a WR for the last couple of months. Ultimately, the Giants will probably take a QB at some point, but they seem to think it will be later. It will also be tough to outmaneuver the Vikings and all their assets.
7 - Tennessee - Alt, OT
Haven't seen much about the Titans' preferences, but this pick just makes too much sense. Alt is close to the consensus #1 OT, which is the Titans' greatest need. They have talked about looking at playmakers, but the sentiment among many teams is that the depth in the 2nd round will be much better for that.
8 - NY Jets (From Atl) - Odunze, WR
Jets are in win now mode, rumors are they want skill and that Odunze is their favorite player in the draft. A baby trade up to 8 gets their man.
9 - Indianapolis (From Chicago) - Bowers, TE
Nearly every draftnik has said Bowers likely doesn't get past 10-12, and he has received all the positive talk from multiple teams. Colts have said they would rush up the card for Bowers if he was there when they pick. They also mentioned they would be willing to trade up for the right guy, and would be happy waiting for a WR later on. The Bears would like to get their 2nd round pick back and move down at this point.
10 - Atlanta (From NYJ) - Latu, DE
Pretty much everyone has picked up on this. The Falcons seemed to view all the defensive guys equally early, but once Latu injury got cleared the rumors were they wanted him. They pick up another asset here for trading down.
11 - LA Chargers (from Az) - Latham, OL
Jim Harbaugh has pretty much telegraphed what the Chargers want to do. He said he wants to build up the offensive line and is willing to trade the 5th pick but wants more than market value. Ultimately, I think it gets done and they take a much-needed, tough right tackle in Latham
12 - Denver - Turner, DE
There's a decent chance this pick gets traded as Denver would like to get their 2nd round pick back. Ultimately settled on BPA with as Denver's DL could use quite a bit of help. Was very tempted to put Murphy here as well.
13 - Las Vegas - Fuaga, OL
Lots of smoke about Vegas taking Penix at QB. I simply don't think the new regime of Telesco at GM will be risky enough to tie his tenure to this pick. The Raiders have needed a right tackle forever. If they don't pull the trigger here, the selection gets very thin after round 1. I do, however, think they are interested in trading back up to round 1 to get Penix.
14 - New Orleans - Fashanu, OT
This is a perfect match. Fashanu was once considered a favorite for #2 OL. Due to teams preferring a nasty style above, he'll drop a little bit. The Saints already needed OL with Penning not performing well, but with the Ryan Ramczyk injury news not looking good, they would jump on Fashanu.
15 - Chicago - Murphy, DL
Bears would love to drop down to 15, pick up an extra pick and get Murphy. Rumors have been they like him and might take him at #9.
16 - Philadelphia (From Sea) - Q Mitchell, CB
There's been a lot of smoke with Philly moving up to take their favorite corner, which seems to be Mitchell. DJ said the move up could be for a tackle, but I'll stick with corner.
17 - Jacksonville - Arnold, CB
In the pre-draft press conferences, the Jags definitely seemed to value needs over general best player available. If two guys were the same rating, they would take the need. Corner, and Arnold specifically, make a ton of sense here as his size will allow him to play the Jags' press style.
18 - Cincinnati - Mims, OL
Bengals have needed OL help for sometime. Rumors are they like Latham and Mims. With Fantanu slipping, that likely pushes Mims up.
19 - LA Rams - Barton, OL
McVay finally gets to make a pick. Shrager, who seems tapped into info, said he guarantees the Rams will go offense if they stay and pick. They definitely could use OL help.
20 - Pittsburgh - Fautanu, OL
The Steelers have been connected to OL throughout the whole process. Fautanu can play anywhere on the line, including RT which is the positional value the Steelers wanted. He slips a little bit here due to the knee issues.
21 - Buffalo (from Miami) - Thomas, WR
Buffalo has a ton of smoke about trading up. Despite being a divisional foe I think is probably the range.22 - Seattle (From Phi) - Dejean, CB
Seattle has been connected to Dejean. They value versatility and Dejean is it. In this mock they trade down and still get their man.
23 -Arizona (from Min) - Darius Robinson, DE
At some point, Arizona will need to address their defensive line, which has a bunch of issues. Rumors are Cards like Robinson.
24 - Dallas - Morgan, OL
A Dallas beat writer talked about how Dallas had multiple needs on their offensive line. The top 11 offensive linemen will be gone by the 2nd round, and there is a big drop after that. They have been connected with Jordan Morgan, who has been rising as of late.
25 - Las Vegas (From Green Bay) - Penix QB
With where the betting odds are going someone will trade up for Penix, and seems Raiders are favorites for it. GM gets his solid pick in OL, and Pierce gets QB of future, win/win. GB should have no issues trading back and picking up more capital.
26 -Tampa Bay - Chop Robinson, DE
The Bucs could definitely use help on the defensive line. Chop could go much earlier than this, so Bucs would get great value.
27 -Arizona - McKinstry, CB
The Cardinals could go several different directions; here, they get the last corner for some time. McKinstry is projected right in this range.
28 - Miami (From Buf) - Verse, DE
Dolphins get great value from their divisional rival, and pick up a need at DE with Verse falling. Worthy could be right here as well.
29 - Detroit - Powers-Johnson, OL
Lions beat writers also are expecting them to go offensive line. Wanted Frazier here, but injuries are a concern. Powers-Johnson could fit in well.
30 - Baltimore - Guyton, OL
The Ravens have been connected to the offensive line throughout the whole process. The GM pretty much indicated that's where they are going.
31 - San Francisco - Corley, WR
A bit off the wall pick here. Corley is mostly seen as a second-round guy. However, he's also described as a Deebo clone, and the 49ers have already met with him. They usually meet with the guys they draft, and so far haven't met with a lot of guys projected around this pick. I believe the turmoil with Aiyuk will lead to him being dealt.
32 - Kansas City - Suamataia, OL
It looks like the Chiefs are angling for OL now. After the first round, the drop-off is pretty steep. They typically like to draft guys they meet with, and Suamataia is one of them
Current mock draft
5- Arizona (from LAC) - Harrison Jr., WR
Everything the Chargers have said has been in regards to wanting offensive linemen and being willing to trade down. Harbaugh essentially said, "Come up and get the pick." If Ossenfort can leverage moving from #4 to #5 by picking up an extra first-round draft pick, he would do it.
6 - NY Giants - Nabers, WR
8 - Jets (from Atl) - Odunze, WR
Daniel Jeremiah and a few Jets beat writers have picked up on this. Joe Douglas seemed fine with trading up a little or trading back. The focus has been more on playmakers than on OL so far. The Jets would likely need to jump the Bears to get Odunze, as he's essentially a consensus pick at #9 and everyone knows it.
9 - Chicago - Bowers, TE
Went back and forth with Bowers/Odunze at 8 or 9. Ultimately, I think the Bears pull the trigger to bolster their offense with Williams coming in. Nearly every draftnik has said Bowers likely doesn't get past 10-12, and he has received all the positive talk from multiple teams. I would watch for a possible trade here from the Colts as well. They have said they would rush up the card for Bowers if he was there when they pick. They also mentioned they would be willing to trade up for the right guy, and would be happy waiting for a WR later on. If their guy Odunze is gone, the Bears could very well make that deal to regain their second-round pick.
10 - Atlanta (from NYJ) - Latu, DE
Early on, there were rumblings about Atlanta not having Dallas Turner as the consensus number #1 player. Since then, Latu has been medically cleared by the Rams and various other teams, and his odds to be the first defensive player drafted have significantly moved. A few Falcons beat writers have talked about a trade and even directly mocked Latu to them at #8. They are very happy to get him at #10.
11 - LA Chargers (from Az) - Fuaga, OL
Jim Harbaugh has pretty much telegraphed what the Chargers want to do. He said he wants to build up the offensive line and is willing to trade the 5th pick but wants more than market value. Ultimately, I think it gets done and they take a much-needed, tough right tackle in Fuaga.
12 - Denver - Turner, DE
There's a decent chance this pick gets traded as Denver would like to get their 2nd round pick back. Ultimately settled on BPA with Turner as Denver's DL could use quite a bit of help. Was very tempted to put Murphy here as well. Pick 12 is probably where the draft starts to be unpredictable.
13 - Las Vegas - Fautanu, OL
15 - Indianapolis - Mitchell, CB
Mitchell's stock has dropped a bit lately, and some have Arnold as the 1st QB. For the Colts, who value athletes more than most, I can't see them taking Arnold, who ran a 4.55 40 time, over Mitchell with a 4.3.
16 - Seattle - Murphy, DL
Many draftniks have said this is Murphy's floor. Jeremiah said he wouldn't be surprised if Murphy goes in the top 10. Seattle has many needs and could trade down, but ultimately would take BPA here at such value.
18 - Cincinnati - Latham, OL
I have seen a few different sites that have Latham as the 2nd or 3rd offensive lineman. He would be a nice grab for Cincinnati at a much-needed position.
19 - LA Rams - Barton, OL
McVay finally gets to make a pick. Shrager, who seems tapped into info, said he guarantees the Rams will go offense if they stay and pick. They definitely could use OL help.
20 - Pittsburgh - Mims, OL
The Steelers have been connected to OL throughout the whole process. They prefer the positional value of tackle compared to guard. Mims could end up being the best tackle in the draft, and the Steelers believe they can coach him up.
21 - Miami - Verse, DE
I have mostly projected OL here, but they could also use a DE, and would be surprised to find Verse available in the 20s.
22 - Philadelphia - Dejean, CB
The Eagles could definitely use a corner. Howie Roseman said it was on him that they didn't address defense as much; I assume they do that here. Recently, there have been rumblings of them trading up. That makes sense as well.
23 -Arizona (from Min) - Chop Robinson, DE
At some point, Arizona will need to address their defensive line, which has a bunch of issues. Chop's stock is gaining ground and could be taken earlier.
24 - Dallas - Guyton, OL
A Dallas beat writer talked about how Dallas had multiple needs on their offensive line. The top 11 offensive linemen will be gone by the 2nd round, and there is a big drop after that. They could elect to take a more versatile player like Jordan Morgan, but for now will give the nod to the higher prospect, Guyton.
25 - Green Bay - Wiggins, CB
The Packers typically value traits, although they could jump at the chance to get one of the first-round CBs. The offensive line is also a very live option here.
26 -Tampa Bay - Darius Robinson, DE
The Bucs could definitely use help on the defensive line. Robinson was invited to the green room, indicating a good chance he's gone before this point.
27 -Arizona - McKinstry, CB
The Cardinals could go several different directions; here, they get the last corner for some time. McKinstry is projected right in this range.
28 - Buffalo - Thomas, WR
I would be surprised to see Thomas last this long, but wouldn't be surprised to see the Bills trade up and get him.
29 - Detroit - Zach Frazier, OL
In the pre-draft press conferences, Brad Holmes talked about getting culture guys. Frazier is a nasty lineman whom Campbell would love. Lions beat writers also are expecting them to go offensive line.
30 - Baltimore - Powers Johnson, OL
They typically like to draft guys they meet with, and Suamataia is one of them.
