The amazing thing about these places in the US is that you cannot walk between any of them. I stayed in a hotel on one of these developments and there was a restaurant next door that I could not walk to, and had to drive 10 minutes around a big loop. It is incredible.

How have I ended up in transatlantic town planning discourse 😭
@Transsomething First time I went to the US was for work, and the office was only a mile away. Colleagues said they'd come and pick me up by car, which seemed unnecessary. So I walked, and when I got to the office one of them actually screamed. It was like they couldn't imagine...walking.
@Transsomething This is a road in Morgantown, WV and I don’t think the photo does justice of how steep that hill is. Not terrain you would really want to be walking around on in this case, all those restaurants are built into a steep hillside. But also, yes walkability in America is bad.
@Transsomething Idk about your hotel, but that quoted image seemed walkable to me, what's wrong with it?
@Transsomething I tried to walk from a hotel in Houston to a shopping mall half a mile away. Impossible to do and I got trapped on a traffic island and the police had to stop the traffic so that I could get off it! 🙄😂
