Traces of Texas reader Jeff Smith is in the landscaping business in Cuero and was so kind as to send in this photo of a huge live oak tree with a prickly pear --- blooming, no less! ---- growing on it. Jeff said there's nothing that says "South Texas" more than this and I have to agree. I think about some of the places I've seen prickly pears growing and it just strikes me that, indeed, life finds a way. Thanks, Jeff. Really super!
@TracesofTexas I love cactus and we have these in Kansas, I transplanted some from Western Kansas to far SE KS. I had some come up in cement and rock, near my pot that held them!
@TracesofTexas I was determined to catch a beautiful 12 point buck I sat on the ground so long I had a prickly pear grow on my boot, not kidding
@TracesofTexas Amazing shot! I think the same thing... life will bloom wherever it is! This picture shows that!
@TracesofTexas I once had a prickly pear growing on my tile roof.
@TracesofTexas Cut a pad off so I can plant it in my yard!
