@TomorrowsWar We need more beauty like this in our broken world
@TomorrowsWar @Tyloxs1 You cannot just post this and not say where it is
In the 11th century Abbot Suger had a vision to bring light into the church, he was a brilliant man but didn't quite have the architectural knowledge to do this at the Church of St. Denis in France. He went on a tour therefore to learn from the best architects in the world, Italy. And there he learned about the arches and how they transfer weight so that he could lift the walls high. He knew at that point he could put windows up high and bring in the light. But not just plain windows, windows that brought in beauty and elegance. St. Bernard of Clairvaux opposed such an ostentacious and overly ambitious idea. But Abbot Suger, submitted to St. Claivaux's strict regime, his monks were totally living in poverty and penance and so Abbot Suger did the same. St. Bernard of Clairvaux was won over and the project moved forward. The bones of St. Denis were used to raise money for the project and well that is the history in a small nutshell of the FIRST Basilica from whence the Catholic Church built model after model and the people were brought closer to the "heavenly Jerusalem" of which Abbot Suger aspired. The Catholic Church has so many graces and so much beauty compared to the protestant poor dingy nonsense we are struck as to why anyone would go into those ugly structures, except for the addiction to "fellowship and loud music..." Poor protestants!
@TomorrowsWar The Catholic Church turned out to be right about pretty much everything.
@TomorrowsWar @WeCrusaders As an orthodox Christian I respect and love the beauty of Catholicism
@TomorrowsWar The decor is pretty. The doctrine has a lot of made up beliefs
