This is big: NFL Competition Committee Chairman Rich McKay told me the replay assistant will now be permitted to correct certain types of incorrect calls for roughing the passer and intentional grounding. Must be purely objective (QB wasn’t hit in head, was out of pocket, etc.)
The competition committee has long opposed challenges to penalty calls because it essentially substitutes one person’s judgment for another’s. This is much more narrow, but another step toward empowering the replay assistant to fix clear and obvious mistakes.
@TomPelissero They’re coming after Mahomes’ advantages 😂😂😂😂
@TomPelissero @MikeGarafolo Blessed be the soul that reads this ❤️🖤🧘♂️
@TomPelissero @MikeGarafolo JUST WHAT WE WANTED
@TomPelissero This will add to the #NFL chess match with offenses hurrying to the line and opponents having to decide whether to gamble a defensive timeout or vice versa depending on situation
@TomPelissero @NFLInjuryNws Yea, but what if they get hit in the head, neck, shoulder, upper arm, knees, ankle area? Or if you tackle legally and then land on them?
@TomPelissero Finally a good decision today
@TomPelissero Less replay reviews would fix things… Do better NFL
@TomPelissero The NFL explaining to defenders that hip drops are illegal but roughing is reviewable
