Biden and NYT. The problem with this very helpful report is that it implicitly reinforces the two-sides-to-each-story framing that is the underlying problem. 1/4
The real story is democracy, and the real question for NYT and everyone else is whether that framing is dominant. Some great reporting there, but general failure on the framing. 2/4
As a citizen, I couldn't care less who in the White House and who in the NYT has hurt feelings. I do care about who is doing their job well. The Biden administration, with mistakes of course, has done that. 3/4
@TimothyDSnyder You may be right that @politico‘s @nytimes vs @BidenHQ story is heavy on intrigue and light on the stakes for our democratic republic but the hit-dog reactions of several NYT reporters do not reflect well on them, and I expect their attempts at misdirection won’t be successful
@TimothyDSnyder "Real story", "Real question" 😆 It was nice of you to include examples of "framing" in your thread about framing. The fact that it was probably unintentional makes it even funnier.
@TimothyDSnyder Exactly:
@TimothyDSnyder BTW, I've been a subscriber for over 40 years, but it doesn't look good for next year.
@TimothyDSnyder Your six months long silence is loud, clear, and despicable.
