Finished WrestleMania III - Not great! So many bullshit matches but nothing as bad as Brutus Beefcake vs. David Sammartino
Very stupid discourse today. You know what matches would have been good? Anything involving CM Punk vs The Elite. Not only would they have been 'good matches' they would have had super hot crowds and increased ticket sales. Almost like you can do both at the same time.
Just watched this - loved it. The Cagematch reviews are low, which was surprising, but seeing it included in this thread reassures me haha. Great styles clash match, I loved watching Brody & Hansen just get more and more pissed at being out-maneuvered by the lucha dudes.

Potentially hot take, replay value is the most important aspect of a GME contender. If something holds up nearly as well on a rewatch as it does with fresh eyes, it’s worth praising for that alone.

Almost finished with WrestleMania II. Naturally, the two best matches have the Funks & the Bulldogs. Also - new worst commentator contender: Elvira. Also also - Why is the Hogan / Bundy match structured like Hogan is the heel? Bizarre choices being made here.
The more I watch of Chris Candido the more I realize that he's gotta be MJF's primary influence.
I really want to work through some wrestling “What If?” scenarios and how they would effect the future from that point. Things like HBK going to WCW, The Sheik becoming a more major figure in 80s NWA, the 90s All Japan crew attempting to become major North American stars.

Hello! I've been busy. Hoping to catch up on Prestige, West Coast Pro, DPW, AEW, etc. soon.
AND the Sheik turn on Abby rules. Being so pissed that Abby hit him instead of Funk that he goes, “fuck this guy, I should fireball him” is what more wrestling “breakups” should be like. None of the melodrama week after week - just one dude impulsively fireballing the other.

The other day I watched all of the easily accessible Sheik / Abdullah vs. The Funks matches (thanks to @KrisPLettuce). Just some terrific wrestling with a specific tone and style. You knew what they were going for and they hit all the marks every time.

We don't talk enough about Goro Tsurumi's Wrist Clutch Exploder '89. Especially this one. Shunji Takano was no small dude. Even as deep as early 89, past when you think Baba shifted away from DQs, Tsurumi was getting DQed in almost every singles match. What a guy.
