When young people feel like they can’t get ahead in the same way their parents or grandparents could, that’s not fair. It's our job to fix that — and, in Budget 2024, we are.
Thomas Sowell said it well: "The first lesson of economics is scarcity: There is never enough of anything to satisfy all those who want it." For example, there's a limited amount of housing in Canada. We cannot house both Canadian citizens and tens of thousands of new immigrants. This isn’t "racism." It's just numbers. But Liberals don't like numbers. So they say preposterous things like "We're suddenly going to build millions of new homes out of thin air." Even IF these homes are built, the law of scarcity will come through at some point. Though everyone may want a mansion, what they're going to get is a tin shed.
