Maybe it's the boomer talking, but I legitimately feel "TikTok" content (advice/lists/snippets with dancing/crying/etc) is dangerous. I don't know how to explain, but it feels insidious. Like I'm actively being manipulated? Am I alone? Or can anyone help explain this feeling?
@TheNerdySteve I dont find thag particular content to be manipulative to me, but I do know the youtube algorithm knows how to manipulate me... usually with "bad cop" videos.
@TheNerdySteve I mean engagement is the soul focus for the algorithm. Most of the time it pays to be short but sweet even if that leaves room for ambiguity. I see this anytime I have my gf help me with mtg vids and of course the few misogynists feel the need to be vocal
@TheNerdySteve I wouldnt say dangerous but ppl are not aware of the effects is having on them is a fair concern. It's structured in a way (in a society that rewards this) to takes the shortest possible routes to making ur brain pop off. There's effects from training ur brain to operate that way
@TheNerdySteve I give professional advice for a living, and I confirm that it’s dangerous
