What I’m hearing: Instagram’s Trust and Safery org absolutely gutted the last few weeks. ~60% of the org gone - between layoffs and forced reassignments to data labelling. All while “AI maxxing” pushed a bunch of bugs to prod. And hence why today’s massive Insta account takeover happening.
It’s the 25th anniversary of the Patriot Act. An act that was hastily passed. Let’s not forget the civil rights abuses that came from it. The most shocking is the FBI’s overzealous use of National Security Letters. Those little letters where they can request banking and phone info about targets and place gag orders on the companies who provided the data. Between 2003 - 2006 they issued 192,499 letters.
