Because of an incident on an early tour, they were banned from playing United States in their prime. I personally believe this encouraged Ray to focus more on his immediate environment and English sensibility. They became the most “English” of the British Invasion bands.
The Kinks were extremely popular before and after they got banned. Groundbreaking. The Small Faces were part of an important few of the British Invasion bands that didn’t quite invade. That includes the Pretty Things, Creation, the Move, and the Birds. They had one very cool hit.
