Pink Floyd's 'The Dark Side of the Moon' re-enters this week's Billboard 200 Album Chart thanks to the rise in streams for their song 'Eclipse.' It has now spent 989 weeks on the chart, still the longest charting album of all time.
@ThatEricAlper I have listened to that album easily 1,000 times. Sometimes even without any consciousness-altering substances in my bloodstream. And yet I don’t think I ever read the track list. So today was the day I found out there’s a song on it called “Eclipse”! /2
@ThatEricAlper "And everything under the sun is in tune But the sun is eclipsed by the moon" The entire album is a trip like no other, and those last lines from the last track on the album pretty much sum it all up.
@ThatEricAlper And then one day you find, ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run. You missed the starting gun.
@ThatEricAlper I bought it 20 years ago, on vinyl, from Goodwill
@ThatEricAlper It goes beyond entertainment, beyond music -- it is a masterpiece of art
@ThatEricAlper Crazy to think Alan Parsons, now 75 years old, was engineer on that album from 51 years ago. He actually was upset that he didn't get total engineering credit when they added Chris Thomas as a mixing supervisor. But make no mistake, Dark Side is Parson's baby!
@ThatEricAlper Freshman year at college, favorite boyfriend, Cracklin' Rosé wine and Pink Floyd.
