Quick Review: Deadly Hands of K’un-Lun #4 (NO SPOILERS) GOOD - Danny Rand and Pei’s reunion is easily the emotional highlight of the issue - Danny returning with the Immortal Weapons was awesome - Paco Medina’s artwork is much stronger here than previous issues - Main cover by Leinil Yu and variant cover by Leo Chiola are fantastic MIXED - The reunion with Pei was nice, but if Lin Lie had been a student to Danny for a while, shouldn't they have had a moment, too? - Shou-Lao is talking again, but only Lin Lie can hear him talk...again; it's so weird that he does this when he's never spoken to anyone verbally ever, not even Pei with Gork - Lin Lie's transformation harkens back to Danny in the Living Weapon, but makes the former seem to turn into a more powerful being (unless it's a hyperbole) than the latter - The K'un-Lunian resistance kids in Iron Fist garb still feel out of place in this story NOT SO GOOD - Why only two Immortal Weapons? We needed everyone to be back, and there's no reason why many are M.I.A. - Lin Lie keeps talking when he should be writhing in pain, but he's not; it's as if it wasn't a big deal to lose an arm at all - Nobody reacting to Lin Lie losing an arm in the entire issue is bizarre; no one attempts to help him, like nothing happened - The pacing never slows down enough to let moments breathe for the 4th straight issue - Elektra still feels oddly inserted into the series, unfortunately - The issue introduces new concepts that are out-of-place in Iron Fist mythology; interdimensional telepathy with chi-sharing is too unbelievable, and the explanation isn't acceptable OVERALL It's a sub-par issue whose only saving grace is Danny Rand's appearance and his reunion with Pei. It feels overcrowded with ideas and non-stop action without enough exposition to support them. Grade: 👊👊👊 (3/5) #IronFist #DannyRand #LinLie #Pei #DeadlyHandsOfKunLun #Marvel
