I'm concerned about narratives that long COVID: * is less of a concern now because robust hybrid immunity / milder variants. * is exaggerated in numbers and/or severity. * goes away "quickly" ("only" a few months or a year). * isn't a risk for "normal, healthy" people.
@TRyanGregory A year or a few months. Is not quickly when you feel so sick and tired...
@TRyanGregory A few months or a year isn’t “quickly”
@TRyanGregory Take the narrative and reverse from there. You'll end up in a shiny boardroom where the question is "What must we say to reduce the fear and keep everybody working?"
@TRyanGregory But that IS the narrative! Now what? The only place to find real info about SARS-CoV-2/CoV-3 is on social media and you have to carefully source your medical experts (they're generally not the known names on TV and in newspapers)
@TRyanGregory In UK, people with long covid 2-years post-infection in 2023 is more than people with long covid 1-year post-infection in 2022. Hint that some long covid may never recover.
@TRyanGregory Aren’t very many people who can afford to be out sick for “a few months” up to a year…
@TRyanGregory When your friend is a hero, you could say those in one go without feeling ashamed.
