In the early 1890s baby frocks were fashionable apparel for ladies on the stage and especially in the ‘halls. Minnie Palmer, Marie Lloyd, Vesta Victoria wore them for their comic songs but it became popular for a time as costume in various colours. #MHVD2024 #MusicHallFashion

@TLegmania @musichallsoc Dan led a celeb music hall cricket team for charity fundraising. They chose outlandish costumes like comic cops for example. The giraffe does seem a bit random tho! They played teams around england I assume Ogdens used his high profile image to either help charity or shift fags!

My granny used to go to the Willesden Hippodrome in the 1930s. Located in Harlesden, the Frank Matcham building opened in Sept 1907. The hand painted souvenir cards given by Alec Hurley who starred at the opening and left for America shortly after with wife Marie Lloyd. #MHVD2023
