Belal has fought during Ramadan at least 5 times. He’s done it in his UFC debut vs Jouban vs Luque in the rematch and even on 2 weeks notice vs Gilbert on a bad ankle @THEREALPUNK @JohnMcCarthyMMA @WeighingIn
@JohnnyFurfaro @bullyb170 @THEREALPUNK @JohnMcCarthyMMA @WeighingIn It’s really not that hard, you just don’t eat or drink until it’s dark, in fighters cases, they fix their sleep schedule so they get their prime awake hours, they fight at night, waking up only a few hours before the fight.
@0SJake @bullyb170 @THEREALPUNK @JohnMcCarthyMMA @WeighingIn That’s not true. Belal’s team is mostly and maybe all non-Muslim. He trains with them during the day, without fluids. That’s also not the point of fasting. It’s a reminder to themselves of what some people in this world go through, living without stuff we all take for granted
@JohnnyFurfaro @bullyb170 @THEREALPUNK @JohnMcCarthyMMA @WeighingIn My only point is for fight night, they can schedule things to make it easy for the fighter, example, I work the night shift 8pm - 6am, I probably eat during sunlight once or twice a month, still find it easy to go to the gym. I’m not talking about the actual “point” of fasting
@0SJake @JohnnyFurfaro @bullyb170 @JohnMcCarthyMMA @WeighingIn You’re forgetting that all his coaches/training partners have fights as well and train during the day so who’s gonna actually train with him in the middle of the night for 8-10wks? Ramadan is a month but he would still start camp that way as to not make changes during camp.
