Larry Bird on silencing his doubters and critics when he came into the NBA: “Three days after rookie camp I found out this league is nothing, I can play in this league, and I will dominate in this league.”
@Super70sSports Larry was never lacking in self confidence, but as the saying goes, "it ain't braggin' if you can back it up". He could always back it up and then some...
@Super70sSports Taking Indiana State to a championship game should have been evidence enough. Beat 3 ranked teams including 5 Arkansas and 6 DePaul to get there.
The single best total Basketball player in history. One of the best trash talkers who backed it up. What made him different was his total command in real time of the basketball court. Yeah Michael and Lebron are great players but it took Michael 6 years to win a championship back when the NBA had more polished and mature players .Michael was a ball hog moreso than Lebron who passed more.It took Larry 2 years on a team that had fallen in disrepair. He took Indiana State to the NCAA finals
@Super70sSports Pat Riley said if I needed a guy to win a game on the last shot it would be Jordan. But if he needed a last second shot to save his life it would be Larry Bird.
@Super70sSports Man those were the days when the NBA was something to watch. Great talent.
@Super70sSports Well, the NBA was really bad at that point. It was behind the PBA Tour and Wild World of Sports.
