Joe Delaney gave his life at age 24 while trying to save two young boys from drowning. Hell of a running back, gone too soon. No particular reason for this tweet today other than there’s never a bad time to honor a fallen hero. #RIP
@Super70sSports He was set for a hell of a career. True hero
This post spurred me to read about Delaney, who I was sadly unaware of before just minutes ago. Imagine you can't swim, but you have the courage to try, because children are in danger. A man of character, courage, and one to be admired by all. And though he is in the Chiefs Ring of Honor, an official retirement of his jersey number seems to be in order. #RIP
@Super70sSports Never knew that but, it is pretty awesome.👍😎😎
@Super70sSports @SeanUnfiltered Joe couldn’t swim himself and jumped in anyway. Incredible.
@Super70sSports My first pro game was when he broke the Chiefs record with 193 yards and outdueled Earl Campbell pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/1981…
@Super70sSports His teammates used to recall the attention he lavished on his prized possession, a Mercury Cougar XR7. Important to realize, he couldn't swim. Think about that.
